Liu Bolin x Harper’s Bazaar

by emilyhighfash

This has to be the most brilliant idea in fashion 2012. Chinese artist Liu Bolin, a.k.a “The Invisible Man” is known for his camouflage art by painting himself to disappear in to his surroundings, much like a chameleon.

This March 2012’s issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Bolin has collaborated with some of today’s most prominent fashion designers: Angela Missoni, Alber Ebaz, Jean Paul Gaultier and Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino; painting their bodies from head to toe to blend them in to their signature designs in an 8-page editorial entitled “Lost in Fashion”. It’s brilliantly executed and delightfully charming…I must admit I had to look twice at some of them to realize there was anybody there! It’s like playing Fashion Eye-Spy!

Gracing the cover of this month’s issue, the darling Gwenyth Paltrow. There’s something about this woman’s golden tresses and muscle tone that I instantly recognized it was her even before reading the headline.

And for a little extra fun, here are two of Liu Bolin’s trickiest (at least I think so) camouflages:

It took me a while…
